Adoption Support Practice Lead Manager

Contract - Permanent, full time - 35 hours per week

Coram is a highly regarded voluntary adoption agency which gained two ‘outstanding’ grades for its adoption branches in London and the East Midlands.Coram is registered as a Fostering Service in order to offer early permanence placements for children aged 0 – 2 years and was also rated ‘outstanding’ for this service. The adoption support service is based on our campus in Bloomsbury, London. 

In addition to responding to the national agenda to recruit more adopters for the pool of children in local authority care waiting for families, we are now also working closely with local authority partners in the North West, North East, South East and West of London to deliver the exciting London Regional Adoption Agency, Ambitious for Adoption; our joint commitment is to provide a child-centered service which supports adopters to develop their strengths in order to provide a loving and secure family experience for the vulnerable children referred for adoption.

Adoption Support for families who have adopted through Coram is regarded as an essential aspect of our adoption provision and a large number of families are currently receiving a post adoption service.The high reputation of the service means that prospective adopters apply to Coram to be approved confident of the support that they will receive.The services offered include advice and guidance from our experienced staff; referral to specialist in house services such as Creative Therapies, Parenting Programmes, and MBT (mentalisation based therapy); life story work; external referrals to CAHMS or other services; support in relation to contact and in negotiating with schools and with education authorities.

About the Role

The primary responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:

  • Proactively and creatively lead on the development of post adoption programmes, including the Incredible Years and STOP Programmes, ensuring their implementation across both the Coram VAA and RAA;
  • Support the delivery of partnership objective with a specific focus on driving improvement of outcomes for adoptive families, adopted children and their relatives;
  • Develop close partnership working between Coram’s VAA and RAA.

You will need to be a qualified Social Worker who is registered with the HCPC and have substantial experience in childcare including permanence planning and adoption.
