About Coram

Coram is committed to improving the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children and young people.

We support children and young people from birth to independence, creating a change that lasts a lifetime.

Coram is the UK’s oldest children’s charity founded by Thomas Coram in London helping vulnerable children and young people since 1739. Today, the Coram group helps more than one million children, young people, families and professionals every year by providing access to the skills and opportunities they need to thrive.

About Coram Creative Therapies

Part of the larger group of Coram services, we are a creative therapy service supported by clinical psychology and family therapy, offering Art and Music Therapy, Therapeutic Parenting, Parenting Programmes and Therapeutic Life Story Work.

We work within very diverse communities and we consciously challenge ourselves and our practice, seeking at all times to develop opportunities for anti-racist practice. We want to reflect the communities we serve and we welcome applications from therapists from global majority communities.

We offer all our team excellent supervision and professional development opportunities within a multi-disciplinary team context.

About the role

For this role you will be based mainly in our Camden schools project, working with children with profound and multiple learning disabilities and children with complex social, emotional, behavioural and educational needs. There will also be the possibility to work from the Pears Pavilion at the Coram Campus, a purpose built creative therapies centre, as well as with emerging innovative projects as they arise in London and the surrounding area.

We are looking for a newly qualified music therapist to join our growing creative therapies team, to deliver and develop our service. Working as part of the parenting and creative therapies service with children individually, in small groups, or with their parents, you will carry out assessments, provide targeted interventions and deliver training & support to school staff in identifying and making suitable referrals.

Using your knowledge of working with vulnerable children, young people and their families, an understanding of the stresses facing families in culturally diverse areas and the role of music therapy in supporting positive attachments you will ensure the project’s success. You will be a HCPC and BAMT registered art therapist and hold a post-graduate qualification in music therapy.

Please see the Job Description and Person Specification to understand more about the role and to see if it the ideal role for you.
